What is E.D.?
Erectile dysfunction is the repeated inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. In older men, ED usually has a physical cause, such as disease, injury, or side effects of drugs. Any disorder that causes injury to the nerves or impairs blood flow in the penis has the potential to cause ED. Diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, chronic alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, atherosclerosis, vascular disease, and neurologic disease—account for about 70 percent of ED cases. Between 35 and 50 percent of men with diabetes experience ED. Lifestyle choices that contribute to heart disease and vascular problems also raise the risk of erectile dysfunction. Smoking, obesity, and lack of exercise are possible causes of ED. Experts believe that psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, low self-esteem, and fear of sexual failure cause 10 to 20 percent of ED cases.
What is an Aphrodisiac?
An aphrodisiac is a substance which is used in the belief that it increases sexual desire. The name comes from Aphrodite, the Greek goddess. However, from a historical and scientific standpoint, the alleged results may have been mainly due to mere belief by their users that they would be effective, that is, the placebo effect. In particular, Western medical science has not substantiated claims that any particular food increases sexual desire or performance.
A rhinoceros horn is falsely believed by some to have aphrodisiac properties. Some aphrodisiacs gain their reputation from the principles of sympathetic magic, for example oysters, due to their shape. The same factor explains the trade in the phallic-looking horn of the rhinoceros. Other animal-based aphrodisiacs gain their reputation from the apparent virility or aggressiveness of the animal source, such as the tiger penis.
What is Libido?
Libido in its common usage means sexual desire in both men and women. Sometimes, sexual desire can be impaired or reduced. It also may be weak or not be present at all, in occurrences such as asexuality. Factors of reduced libido can be both psychological and physical. Absence of libido may correlate with infertility or impotence, distraction, or depression. It may also derive from the presence of environmental stresses such as prolonged exposure to elevated sound levels or bright light. Other causes include stress or fatigue, childhood sexual abuse, assault, trauma, neglect, body image issues and sexual performance anxiety. Physical factors that can affect libido include hypothyroidism, levels of available testosterone in the bloodstream of both women and men, the effect of certain prescription medications, various lifestyle factors and, according to studies, the attractiveness and biological fitness of one's partner.
Male Enhancement Vs. Sexual Stimulants
Penis enlargement procedures or male enhancement procedures and products are techniques alleged to make the human penis larger. These procedures range from manual exercises to devices and medical surgeries, with reports of successes and failures around the world, and while some are known to be hoaxes, there is no popularly known scientific proof about their effectiveness. Male enhancement includes penis enlargement (length) surgery, inflatable implants, penis pumps, penis exercise with weights, and penis enlargement pills, patches, and ointments that are taken over time and work progressively.
Sexual stimulants are different in that they provide an immediate or semi-immediate erection once taken, and last for a specific amount of time, depending on the product. These can be in capsules, pills, powder, and liquid form. The advantage of sexual stimulants is that you only need to take them before sexual activity. Herbal sexual stimulants are usually made from a combination of plants, roots, bark, and animal extracts, and have less reported side effects than chemically produced erection medication.
